Ike's Spiral

Check out that shape! Whatever you believe causes these storms--God; Mother Nature; the coincidental convergence of all the right elements of nature; the collective thoughts and feelings of human beings--this is amazing stuff. And the pictures we can get from satellite, radar, etc. are spectacular. I just had to post this one. Some say the Fibonacci spiral is the fingerprint of God. There above you've got a beautiful picture of that spiral, the nautilus shape. I have to say, whatever causes hurricanes, I stand in awe. I think this might even send me back to church. Seriously. Praying for all those in Ike's path...

A Night At the Theater

Last night we went to see Little House on the Prairie at the renowned Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis. I had been wanting to see the new Guthrie building, and to take George and the kids to their first Guthrie play for ages. As a birthday present to myself, I chose to purchase tickets to Little House, a world premiere musical based on, of course, Laura Ingalls Wilder's stories. We had a great time. Above is the Mill City Museum , site of a famous flour explosion in 18...

If Life Were Only A Tea Party

I often wish I didn't feel the need to bring politics, or world events, or the availability of oil, or any of those "nasty" things into my blog at all. I wish I could be SouleMama and just write about nice things and take beautiful photographs (I love her blog for the peace and beauty that it is). I wish I didn't ever feel the need to worry my pretty little head about that stuff at all. But, alas, I am me and information, thankfully, abounds in this world and I've always been quite addicted to it. And to searching for some truth in all of it. Today's Life After the Oil Crash Breaking News Page is, as usual, quite depressing. James Howard Kunstler's Monday update will likely be yet another diatribe against our government and ignorant Americans. Even the New York Times and USA Today are running articles against the Fannie and Freddie takeover (it does have the ...
