I've changed my blog look, but it's still boring. Any suggestions? How do you create your own template? Or how can I use some of the cool ones I've seen, like Holistic Mama's background? Maybe it's just the February blahs, but I'm ready for change! I suppose I could Google the question, heaven knows Blogger is not going to tell me easily...
I also mentioned recently that I hate my blog title. The Zahn Zone. I thought it was clever way back when I thought having a blog would be just a little computer journal I'd do. But then I started getting readers, and quite a few. (Which is a lot of pressure, btw!) And I realized my blog name is just kinda dumb.
Speaking of February blahs, the kids and I went to the mall today. We've gone for two Wednesday afternoons now, as one way to get out of the house and get some exercise. I make the kids do two laps around the mall with me, and we get a treat either at Pretzelmaker or the Target cafe. I like walking in the climate-controlled mall, but I'm already bored with taking the kids there. I mean, how often can they look in a store? Yes, we noticed shop windows had changed quite a bit in just one week, which gave me a chance to explain marketing to them. But really, we don't have money to buy stuff and I wouldn't want them/myself to buy more even if we could. Gosh, I just hope temps get warmer around here and soon! So we can walk in the woods more often, or just walk to the library every day. We are doing those things, but it's hard to do it more than once or twice a week because it's downright painful.
Tomorrow it's supposed to be around 30 degrees here. We had a taste of warmth like that last weekend, but every other dang day it's been below zero here in Minnesota this winter. I mean, come on! Below zero!!! And many mornings we wake up and it's not just 2 below but more like 12 below or 17 below. Ridiculous!
The chickens are surviving the cold just fine, actually. When it's been 25 or 30 below we leave them in their coop, put their food and water in there and everything. But when it's less than 10 below, they're out in their run at least to eat and stretch out a bit. A couple of them have a bit of a white frostbitten spot or two on the tips of their combs, but other than that they're fine. (I know we could put Vaseline on their combs to protect them from this, but so far we haven't done that...)
To remind me that spring will come, I did receive my seed order from Fedco this week. I was afraid it might never come! The company sent a letter with the seeds. Their sales are up 42.5% this year already, and that's on top of last year's 20% jump in sales. I find this amazing, and it gives me hope for America. We can grow our own food! We can feed ourselves! Go, gardeners, go!

I also like The Zahn Zone, but maybe you want something that reflects what you feel your blog is about -- like Mon's two blogs?
I had to laugh -- I'm feeling slightly ripped off by this winter, it's been so mild! I just don't like all this melting and freezing into ice, the lack of snow for the kids to play in, etc. Though I suppose they wouldn't be able to play if it got too cold, so I should count my blessings!
Editting blogger templates isn't too hard. And lots of free templates are out there on the web; you can usually just cut and paste. I do love Mon's templates on both her sites - maybe ask her where she found them?

There are a few others but that's the easiest and has clear instructions. Give me a shout if you get stuck.
I think maybe you do have a case of February doldrums! I struggle with so many of the little things you do also. It has been a cold winter here in Maine and I have NOT gone outside like I like to, it really feels like a chore when it is below zero.
I like you new look! I hope you have a great Feb.
I am starting to feel better thanks for asking.
