7 Things Meme

I got a meme from Judy over at My Freezer is Full (what a great blog title, Judy! I hate my blog title...)

Here are the rules:
Link to your tagger and list these rules on your blog.
Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog - some random, some weird.
Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blog
Let them know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

1. I drink English Breakfast or Irish Breakfast (or, in a pinch, Lipton) black tea with a little sugar, 2 large mugs a day.

2. My husband is my best friend and I love watching him play his Irish whistles on stage.

3. My favorite summer ever was in 1994. I lived with my dear, funny Grandma and spent a lot of time with a college roommate who lived nearby, and made a bunch of other great friends that year. I had just broken up a long-term relationship and felt so free! For the first time in, like, forever. I was also doing my student chaplaincy (C.P.E.) unit at the nearby State Hospital that summer, which was interesting to say the least. The next summer, 1995, I married my husband whom I didn't even know until Sept. of 1994.

4. Even though it's a lot of work, I like having a "menagerie" of creatures around the house, husband, kids, puppy, cat, chickens. For a while we had two finches named Eddie and Franklin too, but that was too much poop to deal with.

5. I want to go to England and Ireland really, really badly, but I don't want to see other tourists there at all.

6. I want to buy myself a doll from Bamboletta so bad! (Now I'm just listing wants, eh?)

7. I'm running so late for church but I'm still doing this meme! (Procrastinator)

Here are 7 people I want to tag for this! I'll email you soon...

Denise at Mom in Madison
Mon at Holistic Mama
Kristine at Anthromama (to get you back for the Facebook one!)
Jess at RosieQ Family Blog (cuz I like seeing you blog more!)
Jen at Bellies, Beer and Baking Oh My!
The Brewer's Wife
Gracie at Urban/Prairie Living

So go for it, ladies!

Oh, man! Another one!!!

I'm totally with you on #5.

Don't buy a doll, make one! Some of the Waldorf doll kits you can buy are pretty simple.

I did make a Waldorf doll from a kit for my son when he was small. It turned out okay. I just love the creativity that the woman at Bamboletta puts into her dolls!

The 7 Areas for Reduction

Today I want to write just a snippet on each of the 7 areas where we're reducing our consumption. See the Riot for Austerity page to learn more. 1. Electricity. No major sacrifices. We're still watching TV a little and I'm online way too much trying to keep up with this group (my latest obsession), but we're now turning both off at the power strip when they're not in use, instead of just at night when we go to bed. Also, many more appliances are getting unplugged when not in use. 2. Heating and Cooking Energy. We are using the a/c today due to temps in the 90s and very high humidity. That is my general rule for a/c use and always has been-it has to be over 90 degrees F. and humid. Tonight when the predicted cold front passes through we'll turn it off for at least the next week of predicted 80s. 3. Gasoline. I'm biking the 2.5 miles to work every time I work, Monday, Wednesday, Friday. George is biking the 3 miles to the health club for his aerobic w...

America a Military Police State--Now Obvious to Minnesotans

From my friend Devin's blog, The Quince Urban Homestead . They and others in the Twin Cities are much more aware of what's going on down there than we are an hour north. News reports are incomplete and, of course, skewed to the "need for order" and fear tactics. Of course we don't want violence, but come on! Has it come to this? This could be my family! Or anyone's family, simply doing their thing...Read on...(emphases are mine) Some links first: Youtube Video Twin Cities Daily Planet news with photo Flickr photos Happenings at the RNC here in St.Paul Minnesota. POLICE SEIZE PERMIBUS At approximately 6:25 pm on August 30, 2008 Minneapolis Police, Minnesota State Troopers, Ramsey County Sheriffs, Saint Paul Police, and University of Minnesota Police pulled over the Earth Activist Training Permaculture Demonstration Bus (Permibus) by exit 237 on Interstate 94. Initially the police told the people on the bus to exit. When the people on the bus asked if they wer...
