Happy Solstice

Today we celebrate the return of the sun. The days which are now so dark begin again to get longer and brighter. A little bit each day.

I would like to have a fire in the backyard to celebrate the warmth and light of the sun, but with the bitter cold and wind it's nearly impossible. So tonight, as we did last year, we'll light a bunch of candles, drink wine, eat sausage and white bean soup (for no particular reason, just sounds good), and read Christmas stories.
The dog is settling in to the house nicely. He's just a dear old baby already!

The kitty is getting used to having him around and still gets snuggle time too.The kids are excited for Christmas, getting and giving their presents. We all wish you a Merry Christmas!

Happy solstice to you and the family!

Lovely to see the Fam and the home looking so festive, and the dog (Billy?) looks adorably comfy and at home.

Have a great week Lisa!

We attended a great Winter solstice celebration at our new neighbors Unitarian church and it was really cool. As pagan types, we actually felt pretty comfortable there. Lots of celtic dancing and talking about non-consumerism, scaling back, etc.

Devin, that sounds great. I wonder which Unitarian church you were at. Last year at the Solstice I went with friends to a drumming ceremony, led by this guy who does regular drumming at some Unitarian church in the Cities. Can't remember his name, though he has a blog...

Just stopping by (or 'wandering through' as it be) to spread some holiday love and tell you I'm trying your whole wheat bread recipe today.

Peace to you

Hope you guys had a great Christmas. How lovely that the days are getting longer with more light in the world.

Wow, you guys got a new dog while I was away - way to go - I'll have to look back and read about him. I do love dogs (have 4)
