I dried every load of laundry in the dryer this past week. Every one!
My excuse? It was a busy, stressful week and just throwing those clothes in the dryer and letting the machine do the work felt like such a relief. Like a rebellious act, for someone who's been very conscientious about this for the last year or so. And the rebellious part is the thing, because honestly it takes maybe five minutes more to hang my laundry on the clothes racks next to the washer than it does to throw it in the dryer. And the laundry on the racks is already sort of "pre-sorted" so hanging it shortens the folding time, so in a way the time amount is kind of a wash (pun intended).
But once in a while, even the best of us gotta rebel, eh?
The reason I was so busy and stressed last week was because I've been doing herbal consults. I saw a total of 6 clients last week, and hey that's six more than usual. Because only one or two came each day, the house had to be in a constant state of cleanliness and the kids had to be in a near-constant state of contentedness and quiet. And that was not easy to achieve.
As I posted in this post on my herbal medicine blog, I have a young woman who's a student at our (very) nearby University who has become my herbalist intern. She has been such a blessing. Because of her, I needed to find some clients fast so I sent out an email offering ten free herbal consults. And then did six of them this past week. And we have two more scheduled for next week, a short week because of Thanksgiving. Plus on Monday night, Ashley (my intern) and I will be attending a class on "Pain From An Herbalist's Perspective", at my teacher Lise Wolff's house. So next week will be busy too, not sure what I'll do with the laundry though!
I am really enjoying stepping up my practice, and actually having people come to me for herbal remedies. I think the clients are enjoying it, too, and I'm so thankful they're helping support my business. Their support is not monetary at this point, but it's giving me practice and Ashley the opportunity to observe and learn. That's very important stuff, more important to me than making money is right now.

That is great regarding your clients! I wanted to go that direction in my career after college, but have somehow lost track of my goals. Hopefully one day I can look at some holistic avenues again (I do see someone for it though and have felt better physically than I have for a few years!)
Thanks for all your support lately!
