Thieves All of Them

I deleted my Obama widget today. He's for the bailout. I'm not. This is the biggest deal in our history. They are robbing us and our children blind! I don't know who I'm voting for anymore. I'm totally, completely disgusted.

Write in Ron Paul? Dennis Kucinich? I'm going to see which of our Congress people are voting for the bailout, that's for sure. And then we'll throw them all out!

Some are saying this "Paulson (Bush) plan" has been in the works for months. They were just waiting for the right moment to pounce. Some links:

It seems we're in for the New World Order that our first President Bush spoke of. Did we know he meant something like this? Hell no! I bet now he did, and I'm NO conspiracy theorist.

One has to wonder, if this plan has been in the works for months, might the timing of the 'crisis' be timed so no one else could jump into the election (?)
I know I have certainly pondered McKinney and Nader and hoped many Libertarians would opt for Barr.
First FISA and now the bailout?
The only thing that will help us now is a general strike and that won't happen.

Heidi and I saw Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer speak yesterday at the Westminster Town Hall Forum and needless to say he should be running and not Frankenstein! I am very torn on voting now also due to all this crap, but my worry is that are we risking a potential 2004 farce, where it is so close, that those who vote green, independent, etc. could cause the repundits to stay in power. Keep an eye on MPR for Pallmeyer's talk. It was amazing, scary, and inspirational!

This is all so hard to believe or maybe not but I have not wanted to believe everything that is going on in our country right now.
This bailout plan is so crazy.
What do we do?
Who do we vote for?
It seems as though people just want everything to be OK and they don't really care to know what is going on at all.
It is all a bit scary!

Lisa, I feel your pain. We seem to both be hashing out our frustrations at the same time! I only hope our calls will have some impact today.

cyndy, good question about the timing. Certainly makes you wonder, huh?

It is scary. Bail out the for-profit corporate thieves with taxpayer money (which may or may not help), or don't bail them out and possibly tank the entire economy and trigger the great depression. Tough call.

Homeschooling/Unschooling Almost A Year Now

The kids took their annual, required standardized achievement test yesterday. This is the law in Minnesota, homeschoolers have to take the test and keep it in the files at home but we don't have to turn it in to the district or anything, unless there's a problem. It seems reasonable to me. Yesterday's test went well. A friend of mine, a former teacher, does the testing as a business, so the kids are really comfortable with her. She sets up her "office" at the library and devotes about an hour to each kid, using the Peabody Individual Achievement Test . The categories in the Peabody test are General Information (science, social studies, art, etc.); Reading Recognition; Reading Comprehension; Mathematics; Spelling. There are 100 questions per category, though they don't start each child at number 1 but somewhere before/below where they should be at and work up from there. On Family Meetings and Chores

ON FAMILY MEETINGS: On Friday night we held our first-ever Zahn Family Meeting. I've always felt that families who hold family meetings are so, well, organized and democratic and all that and we've just never gotten around to them (which speaks to my lack of organization, and probably democratic-ness, too). But on Thursday, after "crabbin' out" at the kids for not helping around the house enough, I decided to call a Family Meeting for the following night. I made the announcement to all, including dear husband, that the meeting would take place at exactly 6:30 p.m. after our Previously Scheduled Family Dinner at exactly 6:00 p.m. Just trying to be organized here... I asked the family members to come up with agenda items. Mine, of course, would be the subject of chores. I also said I would give a Treasurer's Report (a.k.a.
