Actually, we've already met. But today the Quinces of the
Quince Urban Homestead blog came up from the big city to visit our "homestead" in St. Cloud. We were honored they drove all the way up here just to see us!

Sometimes I feel I spend way too much time online, but there are a lot of benefits to it. This is one of them. Devin and I "met" first online when I found his
family's blog, I think through the
Path to Freedom Urban Homesteaders Ringsurf. I made a comment at his blog, he came over and made a comment on my blog, we started emailing, and a couple of months ago we were down in the Cities and made some time to go visit their place. A friendship was begun, thanks to cyberspace.

Devin and Heidi's boys brought their kites, and since it was windy we walked to our nearby park and took a chance on flying them. I never think about flying kites in August, more so in spring, but you know what an August breeze works just as well as one in May.

The lake in the background (Lake George) is kind of a mess because the city is "renovating" the shoreline, but we had fun just the same. The boys, Simon and Everett, had a blast with our kids on the playground. They said they could stay here forever!

But alas, all good things must come to an end. Their parents wanted to take them home! We exchanged some homegrown veggies and home-canned preserves and they were off for chicken feed on the way back to Minneapolis. Hope you made it home safely, guys. (And oh, did we think about all the Sunday traffic of people heading home from the lakes up here? Hope it wasn't too bad...;-()

We had a wonderful time and the traffic was not too bad, but we were surprised by the sudden stopping. Our boys are already asking when we can come visit again.
Namaste,
Devin
