Too sick

Just wanted to post a quick note. I'm too sick to do anymore than this. This is the worst flu ever, but then I'm sure I say that whenever the flu comes around. It's been many years since I've had it so it's hard to remember. Kids are finally on the mend, still coughing though. I'm still having major head/sinus pain and a slight fever. Day four now. I would not be sitting up at all were it not for double-dosing on Advil. Yes, I gave in to drugs, but that's just until I can get to my chiropractor tomorrow.
Sick=Ick!

George said half of Rose's class missed school on Thursday and Friday. I guess we know where this thing came from...
Picture is of the front door of our house. The swag I made from the spruce in our yard and a coat hanger, after seeing the directions in Martha's mag. We'd love to welcome you over, but I don't think you'd want to come in right now!

Oh, sending you feel better vibes.

The flu hit us last month and we were miserable. We haven't had it for a few years either, but still...seemed just worse!

Hope you feel better...

Wishing you and your family quick-mending on the health side of things...

I'm seeing lots of flu, mono, and just general viral crud at the clinic. Seems like everyone's sick lately, but I suppose the healthy ones don't come in to see me. ;)

Feel better soon!

Thanks for the well wishes! I'm a little better every day, but this thing does seem to linger about a week for everyone.

It looks like a bad flu in general. We have a lot of friends out sick, too.

The 7 Areas for Reduction

Today I want to write just a snippet on each of the 7 areas where we're reducing our consumption. See the Riot for Austerity page to learn more. 1. Electricity. No major sacrifices. We're still watching TV a little and I'm online way too much trying to keep up with this group (my latest obsession), but we're now turning both off at the power strip when they're not in use, instead of just at night when we go to bed. Also, many more appliances are getting unplugged when not in use. 2. Heating and Cooking Energy. We are using the a/c today due to temps in the 90s and very high humidity. That is my general rule for a/c use and always has been-it has to be over 90 degrees F. and humid. Tonight when the predicted cold front passes through we'll turn it off for at least the next week of predicted 80s. 3. Gasoline. I'm biking the 2.5 miles to work every time I work, Monday, Wednesday, Friday. George is biking the 3 miles to the health club for his aerobic w...

On Family Meetings and Chores

ON FAMILY MEETINGS: On Friday night we held our first-ever Zahn Family Meeting. I've always felt that families who hold family meetings are so, well, organized and democratic and all that and we've just never gotten around to them (which speaks to my lack of organization, and probably democratic-ness, too). But on Thursday, after "crabbin' out" at the kids for not helping around the house enough, I decided to call a Family Meeting for the following night. I made the announcement to all, including dear husband, that the meeting would take place at exactly 6:30 p.m. after our Previously Scheduled Family Dinner at exactly 6:00 p.m. Just trying to be organized here... I asked the family members to come up with agenda items. Mine, of course, would be the subject of chores. I also said I would give a Treasurer's Report (a.k.a. "why we haven't paid your allowance since Christmas"). So the appointed hour came and the Meeting commenced. I asked for agenda...
